CORONATION Street has had a rather chequered 12 months with fans probably more critical of uninspiring plots than ever before.
So, it was great to see it almost sweep the board at the British Soap Awards, taking many of the top awards against some really tough competition.
As well as the programme voted Best British Soap, Jack P Shepherd (David Platt) took the Best actor award for some really stunning performances including the ground-breaking male rape storyline which was really harrowing.
Lucy Fallon (Bethany Platt) won the Best Actress category and also the Best Female Dramatic Performance. Connor McIntyre (Pat Phelan) was rightly chosen as Villain of the Year.
To crown the night, long-term executive producer Kieran Roberts was given the prestigious Tony Warren Award for his work.
With some new key players behind the scenes and so much talent centrestage, it’s no wonder Corrie is now such a winner!
