IT was very sad to hear that John Carr had passed away.
He and his siblings were the third generation of the Carr family to run the famous Bolton business creating the legendary pasties. As Bolton Council Leader Cllr Linda Thomas stated: “He made Carr’s a much-loved institution in Bolton and further afield. He was the driving force behind the business and made a fantastic contribution to the town through employment and raising its profile.”
More than that, he was a kind, generous man who was always happy to support local causes. As admirers posted on the firm’s website, he was a true gentleman and a great Boltonian who really cared about his town.
Many people have personal memories but perhaps Carr’s themselves put it best when they described John’s legacy – “a legacy filled with his humour, honesty, integrity, humility, generosity, hard work and pride. He truly was Bolton’s finest.”
