IF variety is said to be the spice of life, audiences are in for a hugely entertaining evening at the Victoria Hall in Bolton.

Dance, comedy, shows, folk music, choral singing and orchestral performances will take to the stage as the very best of local talent is celebrating in a variety show.

Jeanette Winstanley, president of Bolton Catholic Musical and Choral Society, said: "The evening will highlight the high standard of performance in the amateur sector.

"Bolton has the highest number of amateur operatic and dramatic societies in the country.

"We also have one of the best symphony orchestras in the country and many excellent dance schools.

"But the venues where we can perform are rapidly disappearing from the area.

"We have no theatre which is accessible and affordable to most of the groups.

"This concert is to raise awareness and funds to enable us to find a "home" for all the varied arts ventures which we should be proud to have here in our town.

"Please support the concert. There will be something for everyone to enjoy, and you will be helping to ensure the future of amateur community theatre."

Tickets will be available on the door priced £10 and £5 for children, with the show taking place on Saturday, June 16.
