A BOLTON MP has called for the a review of personal independence payments (PIP) for young cancer patients.
Pressures on families when a child is diagnosed go beyond the medical condition and around £360 is spent a month extra during active cancer treatment.
Sir David Crausby Bolton North East MP has backed a Parliamentary motion highlighting the financial burden of cancer patients.
Some families find themselves in debt because of the wait to receive PIP.
The motion calls on the government to review PIP for young cancer patients so their financial support can be backdated from the day of diagnosis.
