A BOLTON junior football team reached the last four of a national competition at England's St George’s Park training ground.

Moss Bank Greens Under-11s were one of 12 teams taking part and went out to eventual winners Southlands High School in the the semi-finals.

The local lads were playing a year up in age group as the event is for under-12s teams.

The competition is organised by the Rotary Club of Burton on Trent and is open to clubs in any Rotary district in Great Britain and Ireland who nominate a team.

Moss Bank Greens, who won the competition three years ago, were sponsored by the Rotary Club of Bolton le Moors.

The teams, who came from 10 districts including Lyme Regis, Chelmsford, Nuneaton, Preston, Burton on Trent, Bourne and Walsall, were divided into two sections of six who played each other twice with the top two qualifying for the semi-finals.

Moss Bank won five, lost two and drew three of their 10 games to qualify as runners-up in their group with 18 points.
