A BUSY town centre road has fully reopened after work to repair a sinkhole that appeared nearly six weeks ago was completed.

Manchester Road has been closed northbound at the junction of Orlando Street from May 31 while the work was carried out.

United Utilities has now completed the repairs to a collapsed sewer which caused the hole to appear.

Bolton Council’s Executive Cabinet Member for Highways, Cllr David Chadwick, said: “It’s good news that the road is now fully open. We would like to thank the public for bearing with the disruption caused by the sewer collapse.”
