SOMETHING needs to happen to the Crompton Place shopping centre to revitalise it and to give it a proper future so let’s hope Bolton Council can provide that.
The centre has been sold to the local authority by Santander for £14.8 million. It has suffered from changes in all our shopping habits, along with geographical retail shifts in the town centre. The death blow came, though, when the Bradshawgate entrance was closed off to accommodate Primark.
It’s expected to be remodelled and sold on and it certainly cannot be just left to wither away. Any life support is worthwhile currently.
