CHELSEA youngster Dujon Sterling claims he turned down a move to Wanderers to join Coventry City.

The 18-year-old defender has made a trophy-laden start to his career with the Chelsea development squad and England Under-19s.

He also made his senior debut for the Blues in a 5-1 victory over Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup.

Back in June Sterling says he was on the verge of a loan move to Bolton until he was contacted by Adrian Viveash, the former Chelsea academy coach now working at Coventry.

“Initially I was going to sign for Bolton but I got a call from Adi and he just said that if I come to Coventry he knows I'll bring a lot to the team and that it will be the best place for me to learn," the defender told the Coventry Telegraph.

"It's my first loan and he said it's a family environment and just a nice place to be. And the three days I was there before coming away with England I enjoyed it very, very much.

"I thank Coventry for giving me the opportunity to play and get more first team experience."
