THERE’S a touch of karma about one of the side-effects of the last fabulous two months of hot weather in this country.

Travel companies are now slashing the cost of breaks abroad by up to 60 per cent because so many Brits have decided to holiday at home and enjoy the weather here.

Since they have long hiked up their prices during the school holidays – basically holding many families not wanting to take children out of school in term-time to ransom - they probably deserve this downturn in fortunes.

It might even make them re-think their family offers in future.
