A CLITHEROE woman is keeping her green fingers crossed she can scoop two prizes.

Emily Waddington has been nominated for the ‘Freelance Florist of the Year’ and ‘Student Florist of the Year’ awards in the British Florist Association Industry Awards 2018.

She said: “I am quite excited about the awards which are later this year.

“There are different categories such as shop of the year and website of the year.

“It is really flattering that there are three other people across the country that I am up against for one of the the awards.

“I think the student award must be put forward by lecturers. It is going to be a bit nerve-wracking going to the dinner and not knowing if you have won.”

Emily graduated from Myerscough College last month and has already had enquiries for weddings from around the world.

She did a design for the Blackpool Flower and Food Festival floral catwalk and earned praise from world renowned florist Paula Pryke OBE.

Emily said: “She even posted it on her Instagram account which in turn got nearly 500 likes and loads of comments.

“I love a challenge and always try to make something that little bit different. I’m constantly attending workshops and demonstrations, I love learning and seeking inspiration where I can.”
