FIREFIGHTERS rescued a bat that had become trapped in a sun tunnel at a house in Bolton this evening.

The incident happened at a house in Capitol Close at about 7.15pm.

A crew from Bolton North Fire Station attended the address and helped free the bat, which had become stuck in the sun tunnel at the top of the three-storey house.

The RSPCA also attended the scene.

Firefighter Matthew Robinson said: "The person who lived in the house was walking up stairs and noticed the bat stuck in this sun tunnel. They called the RSPCA and they called us.

"We went into the house, put the ladder up and rescued the bat. We gave it to the RSPCA and they let it off into the wild.

"I don't know how it got in there, but it was struggling to get out."
