A FAMILY fled their home after a suspected arson attack in the early hours.
Firefighters were called to Sandhill Close,Great Lever, at 3.30 am after a car parked on the drive way was deliberately set alight with flames spreading to the property.
Three adults and two children had escaped the house as emergency services arrived and were looked after by a neighbour.
Crew Manager Carl Little said: “ We are treating the fire as being started deliberately. It spread to the porch damaging the fascia and the door.
“The car was 100 per cent damaged.”
Firefighters will be in the area later today offering reassurance and advice to neighbours.
