A RAIDER wrecked a petrol station kiosk with fire extinguisher foam in a late-night drama.

The thief burst into the petrol station shop on Morrisons supermarket car park in Black Horse Street in Bolton town centre just before midnight on Tuesday.

One store worker was working behind the glass screen kiosk when the raider armed with the fire extinguisher ran in.

He sprayed the foam contents of the extinguisher all over the contents kiosk.

He grabbed several items from the shelves and then fled the scene.

One member of staff described the scene as resembling a “snowstorm”, with powder covering stands for chocolate and newspapers.

The kiosk was closed for cleaning and repairs yesterday and is expected to re-open this morning.

Customers have still been able to pay for petrol at the pump and officially the station has remained open.

In a statement, police said: “There was a disturbance at 11.30pm at the Black Horse Street store and the offender used a fire extinguisher to spray the shop before taking a couple of items and then fleeing the scene.”

There have not yet been any arrests.

This is not the first dramatic event to unfold at the store in recent months. Back in July a heroic ex-army engineer leapt out of his car to tackle a shoplifter and another man armed with a knife.

A Morrisons spokesperson said: "We are helping the police with their enquiries."

Anyone with information about the incident can contact police on 101 or make an anonymous report through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
