AN autism centre in Breightmet has been rated good for its care.

The Care Quality Commission praised the Breightmet Centre for Autism for the standard of its care and highlighted the involvement of patients in their care.

The report said: "We observed kind and respectful interactions between staff and patients.

"Both patients and carers gave positive feedback about how staff treated them. Staff knew the patients well and their needs."

Last time the centre was inspected in 2015 it was given four areas to improve in and the CQC was satisfied these improvements had been made and the service continued to develop.

When safeguarding issues are raised at the centre the CQC felt staff could be more knowledgeable about the processes which need to be followed.

It also noted that there was no assurance to ensure patients had received regular psychiatry assessments and reviews. Though the service was supported by a locum psychiatrist and an assistant psychiatrist.
