HARD work resulted in the right score for these two bright young things from Bolton School.

Rugby player Morgan Skeels-Caldwell, aged 18, is off to Warwick University to study history while continuing with his sport after scoring A and two Bs in his A-levels and Caroline Blair hit the right note in her exams. She is off to the Royal Academy of Music bringing her a step closer to achieving her dream of becoming a professional opera singer.

Morgan plays rugby for school, a local club and Lancs County under-18s.

He said: "I want to take my rugby as far as I can and will continue to play at university.

"I did think about America but although the sport is growing it is not established and America is too far away. Some universities here are putting more an emphasis on sport, I was approached by a university but most still focus on academia."

Caroline, aged 18, achieved three As in music, Latin and French.

Her talent was spotted while singing in the church choir at the age of just three.

She said: "I want to be an opera singing, singing in the Royal Opera House. The place was based on an audition but academic success was really important to me and I worked hard and it has been worth it."
