THE day was doubly delightful for twins Abbie and Charlotte Fletcher.

The siblings scored a success, with Abbie gaining an A* in law and a B for history, and Charlotte achieving A* in media studies and law.

“I can’t believe it,” said Charlotte. “I feel that everything is coming together and falling into place. I couldn’t be happier.”

The sisters, who are 18 and live in Vale Avenue, Horwich, are heading in different directions post A-levels.

Abbie hopes to spend the next year gaining work experience before doing a foundation course in art.

Charlotte, however, is going straight into further education and will start a course in television and radio at the University of Salford in the autumn.

Owen Patel, 18 declared himself “relieved and satisfied” with his results.

Owen, of Derwent Close, Horwich, is going on to study physics at Lancaster University after getting an A* in further mathematics and A grades in mathematics and physics.

Proving that perseverance pays off, was Freya Molyneux, 19, of Brooklands, Horwich.

She resat maths and this time achieved an A-grade to match the A-grades she got for history and further mathematics.

In addition, Freya, who is off to study for a maths degree at Newcastle University, gained a Distinction* in health and social care.

“I worked super hard so I’m really happy,” she said.
