DID you manage to recognise last week’s picture?

Thousands of people travel down the same road each week but perhaps didn’t notice the similarity to our photograph.

One person who did spot the location is Stephen Walsh who correctly identified it as being Derby Street.

We are not sure when the photograph was taken but it may be the turn of the century.

The lack of traffic, apart from the tram trundling its way up the road may have been a bit of a give away.

Did you notice how the people in the picture could leisurely stroll across the wide road, which was lined with independent local shops? There was no need for pedestrian crossings in those days.

The road may still be a main route into Bolton town centre but the atmosphere today is vastly different and we don’t think anyone could dawdle crossing through the traffic today.

Let’s see how you fare with this week’s photograph? Do you know where this was taken?

Again, there is an empty road and the car in the foreground may be a clue to when it was taken, although, again, we have no specific date for when this was photographed.
