A CAR was left upside down in the road after a serious two-vehicle crash in Farnworth.

Emergency services were called to Bolton Road at the junction with Francis Street where seven people were involved in a collision on Tuesday night.

Fire crews were called at about 9.30pm because it was initially thought that people were trapped inside one of the vehicles.

However, it is understood that the drivers and passengers suffered no major injuries.

Steve Coote, watch manager at Farnworth Fire Station, said: "When we arrived, one car was turned over.

"There had been five people in one vehicle and two in the other. They had all managed to scramble out of the vehicles. There were no major injuries.

"Thankfully it seems that everyone was wearing their seatbelts.

"We made the vehicles safe."
