A LEIGH woman has denied possessing false identity documents and dishonestly obtaining £1,700 in learning funds and grants by deception.
Rhoda Masawi, who is from Zimbabwe, pleaded not guilty yesterday to possessing a false Home Office letter purporting to grant her asylum status on June 20.
She also denied dishonestly obtaining £1,700 learning funds and grants from Salford local authority by falsely representing she had domestic status and was entitled to the money.
Masawi, aged 26, also pleaded not guilty to fraud involving false representing she was entitled to learning funds and grants from Salford Council between February 18 and June 20 this year.
Liverpool Crown Court heard that her application for refugee status has been rejected but the Home Office is not deporting people back to Zimbabwe at the moment.
She was remanded on bail to await her trial beginning on March 3.
