EXCLUSIVE: Wanderers get green light for Megson

Leicester City have cleared the way for Gary Megson to become the next manager of Bolton Wanderers.

The Championship club are understood to have finally given their 48-year-old manager permission to speak to Wanderers chairman, Phil Gartside, over the vacant Reebok post.

There has been no confirmation from either club, but Gartside, who was twice denied permission to speak to Megson, is now free to talk to his number one target.

It is the most significant development yet in the search for a successor to Sammy Lee, who left the Reebok last week after just 14 games in charge, and it seems only a matter of time before the former West Brom and Nottingham Forest manager is officially appointed.

Do you want Megson?

Moaning is all I have left - Gartside has decided he's the number 1 choice, do you think we won't get him?

And if we get him, it will even further ruin the club - so I'll keep moaning, thanks anyway, because I care.

This was posted on BBC news by a forest fan

I can not believe what i am reading, and more importantly seeing on TV about Gary Megson possibly about to be announced as the new Bolton boss in the next 48 hours!

Let me state one thing, im a Nottingham Forest fan coming here in peace. Never had a problem with Bolton, great history, great teams and great fans, so this is not a dig at you guys.......BUT MEGSON!!!!

How can a team with the ability and fan base of BWFC want to step backwards, because that is what will happen with Megson in charge. Im not against the guy because of what happened at Forest, and i mean that. Im just going on what i witnessed week in week out in the dugouts and on the pitch, and i dont just mean whilst he was at Forest. Im going back to West Brom and further, and now Leicester.

He is the worst possible signing you can make for your team. Im all for giving people time, but he is NOT the right man for you, that i do know. There is one thing that will happen if he is appointed, you will finish bottom and not a single Forest fan wants to see that. The bottom spot we were hoping would be reserved for Derby County.

In all seriousness, if you really want to remain in the Premiership, then i would be protesting at your club gates right now at the possible chance at Megson taking charge. The fans over at Leicester are praying you get him, go check there forums.

Bolton, turn back now before it really is too late! The footballing world has its eyebrows fully raised!

all these fans on here saying they're gona support bury etc can't be proper fans surely.

SACK THE BOARD!!!
SACK THE CHAIRMAN!!!
SACK THE MANAGER!!!!!!

Anyway we can take over the club like FC Barcelona - thay are owned by the fans.

I finally feel like getting off my aris and doing something, its time to get organised.

There - that wasn't so hard!

Mr Bolton, Bolton says...
4:17pm Wed 24 Oct 07

Oh No Please this can not happen, this is terrible. This is Embarrassing, we are a Premiership Club but operating as a Championship one, what is the board thinking of getting a manager with this track record, I can not beleive it, Im gutted.

It states he left Forest because -"he resigned in February 2006 after being put under a lot of pressure by the Forest fans".
So thats what we need to do.
We need the Bolton News to show that we do not want him. before taking the Leicester job he was a coach at Stoke??
Very very very sad times at Bolton.

happyleicesterfan, leicestershire says...
4:18pm Wed 24 Oct 07

Along with the forest fan - I have to start that I have nothing against you guys - you did the same as leicester did under O'Neill but managed to prolong it.

Unfortunately, your pessimism appears well placed.

Please see a posting made on our message board entitled "MEGSON - If you dont want to be here - FCUK OFF! "

If you do - say it, and then make it look like it.

Dont believe your hype - you have not vindicated yourself that you are a great boss and always have been.

If you go, you will be forgotten by saturday - harsh but true. Stop being a damp squib and say something we want to hear - either way will be fine with us.

I've stuck with you and you've let us down with your crappy comments. We dont know whether you are committed to leicester, but we do know 100% that you have not signed your contract - ooh, what can we read into that. Just go, and we will see you next year back in the championship, with as many relegations to your name as promotions."

It then moved on deciding on our next manager hoping that it is a foregone conclusion. This was met with lots of agreement and far worse derision of megson than the above post.

If it wasnt for you guys coming in for him, we were heading for a mutiny anyway, we didnt want him in the first place, and nothing has changed since.

But in all honesty - Thankyou and unfortunately, enjoy the premier league as the dark days may not be too far away - we have since died a thousand deaths and are only just beginning to accept how far we have fallen.

There is no positive spin to put on this - nil-nil draws will not save you, as they have not done for us.

This is a waking nightmare!!

If he is put in charge I will not attend another game at the Rbk until we have proved to that Fcuk nut Gartslime that he is the wrong manager and that will be too late.

Megson - hated by Forest and the Foxes fans and has proved nothing?? What are you doing PG????

Gartslime you are a pig headed, self obssessed excuse for a human being. Small man syndrome and greed all wrapped up in one destined to take the club down.

You just want to appoint a manager that is weak and will not beg you for money.

You take this club down pal I can assure you that every fan will make sure you never work in footy again.

Your Scum and I wish the police had found some evidence against you now!!! Maybe they still will!! Here's hoping!!

We currently get 3 to 4 spectators each week but would welcome the tens of thousands about to jump ship from the Reebok. New House Farm Playing Fields this Saturday 2.00pm. Lets see if we can out do the rebels of FC United. I can promise that our chairman is not out to stitch the club up. In fact he'll be out putting up the nets with the lads for the game as well as washing the kit after the game. Somehow I don't see Mr G doing this

Megson's record speaks for itself and this would surely be our fall from grace and back to lower league football. His man management skills are less then spectacular as he has fallen out with players at each club he has been at.Please Bolton take your time to get the right man for this job. I think that is very likely. Smegson will be a disaster and the once proud Reebok empire is crumbling around us. We are going to have another 10-20 year stint as a second rate club. I think I will go and dust off my A-Z of Grimsby, Wrexham and Torquay.
Here is a thought though. If, as I strongly believe, Smegson is a failure will Eddie Davies then sack Gartslime? Surely he cannot keep his job if he gets two bad appointments on the bounce so badly wrong.

The other day I was thinking that Paul Jewell wouldn't be man enough for the job after what happened at Wigan but after hearing this news I would take Jewell any day.

I really can't stand it anymore, I work in an office full of scum fans who think it's really funny and I used to live on Tyneside and my old Geordie mates are wetting themselves.

I was gutted that I couldn't make tomorrow's match but if they unviel Smegson then I'm glad I won't be there. If I can get my money back for my season ticket, I'm off to Leigh RMI.

Well after posting yesterday i must admit it was a knee jerk reaction, Admitingly suggesting LOFTY a better candidate then Megson was just my sarcastic point of view!!!!(BUT I HAD A POINT) The good news is that The Sun hasn't reported the Megson appointment meaning no news is good news. I just think by boycotting our beloved team isn't the right way forward. Gartside & Davies have in the past shown some decent work ethic with regards to signing Anelka and that must count for something shouldn't it???? I just think names are being banded about to un nerve us fans!!! And up until a firm appointment is made (fingers crossed a manager with ambition) then it is right to comment. I hope with all the blogs being typed just shows how much we love our club as to sit down and find time to comment (funny or opinionated) must speak volumes!!! I love BWFC and forever will keep the faith please all don't be hasty and lets get a strong run together and get behined our players!!! I believe Anelka is fit and ready to go Thursday so come on LETS HAVE IT!!!!

Is gartside trying to get himself sacked, or worse beaten up . All season he as gone against the fans wishes , im convinced he as a job in the pipeline and wants the fans to turn against him , why else pick megson . That is not a man trying to take the club forward . He is destroying the club . Even jewell would be a far better choice than megson . Surely try to get a manager that would excite players like anelka and diouf ,so atleast they stay at christmas ,for rest of season . In all my years watching bolton wanderers this is the worst decision by a chairman . Gartside as got to go now . megson as manager , we have gone back ten years . What a utter knob .

I'm sorry but how ridiculous is that? That is what Gartside and the board are counting on. That fans wouldn't turn their backs on the team. That they'll just shout a bit for the next match but then go back to getting behind the team, and carry on spending their money with the club (to line gartside and his cronies back pockets).
The main problem with your argument is that if they can count on your unconditional support for the team, they never have to take account of your opinions no matter how loudly you shout or how often you moan.
I and my family are definately not going to watch a Megson team walk out at the reebok and I've e'mailed Gartside to tell him exactly why - because our team is in ruins and HE is to blame.

Whelan: Jewell support
Dave Whelan has given his blessing to Paul Jewell amid speculation linking the former Wigan boss with the Bolton job.

It was believed that Jewell would have to wait six months before accepting a new post after walking out on Wigan at the end of last season.

But Latics chairman Whelan has revealed that Jewell would be free to take over at Bolton if he and the club wished.

Jewell declared when he left Wigan that he would be taking a break from the game rather than going into a new job immediately, and Whelan is satisfied that he has stayed true to his word.

"Paul could take the Bolton job tomorrow and he would have my full support," Whelan told the Manchester Evening News.

Jewell, who quit Wigan in May after guiding the club to Premier League safety, has been linked with other positions in recent months.

He is understood to have interested both Norwich and Leicester, whose current manager Gary Megson has emerged as Bolton's number one target.

Bolton have been searching for a new boss since the departure of Sammy Lee last week.

You can't but help feeling distraught about how the senior management is determined to destroy our beloved Wanderers. Putting the likes of Megson in charge is like putting a shelf stacker in charge of Asda i.e both are woefully under qualified and can cause nothing but harm.

Eddie Davies is not a stupid man but letting Gartside stumble from one inane decision to another is going to destroy his investment. It's time for Mr Davies to take charge of the club because his staff are quite clearly not up to the job.

What a shambles, not what Dave would call 'a reet Lancashire hotpot' nor a real DING DONG DOO,.....RIP Dave, sorry about what they've done to your club mate
I to went on many away trips on coaches with dave , i was only a young lad at the time but he always took time to have a chat about his beloved wanderers . Great days that will always live with me and many of my mates . Without doubt he was bolton wanderers biggest fan , he had white blood pumping through is vains that fellow . what a shame our chairman as not got half as much passion as dave .

If Megson is NOT installed before tomorrow night match with Braga we should all make lots of chants at the start of the match and just before half time so as not to distract the players. Something simple, no swearing so all the prawn sandwich brigade will join in. Something like "STAND UP IF YOU HATE MEGSON". Followed by a "SACK THE BOARD".

I put all the blame for this on PG. ED has actually done an awful lot for us and bank rolled lots of players that we all certainly enjoyed watching like Jay Jay and Youri. I personally think that he would quite easily sell if if a better suitor was found. At least ED is a fan of the club and not some shifty stranger allegedly wanted for human rights violations.

If Megson IS installed and introduced before tomorrows match we should all do nothing when he is introduced. No clapping, just nothing.

But in the meantime, we should do everything possible to stop this atrocity from happening. If he signs it will be one of our Darkest days in history and I'm sure our already dwindling numbers at the Reebok will dramatically drop some more.

The wheels were already coming off before Big Sam left, you didnt help Little Sam and now your trying to say Megson is our No1 target, its becoming a joke and the club is becoming a laughing stock!! Manderic is now looking for a new Manager too and I bet they get Paul Jewell.

That pig head Gartslime has not listened to a word we have said today.

This is a real sad day for the club and its players past and present.

Your a disgrace Gartslime and hope wish you all the pain and agony one day that you are putting me and the fans through this year.

I will not be going to the RBK again with him in charge and this will be my last entry on a Bolton site.

This from the BBC sports website

Gary Megson is set to speak to Bolton about their vacant managerial position after parting company with Leicester.
Foxes chairman Milan Mandaric rejected two approaches from Bolton for the 48-year-old, who only took over at Leicester six weeks ago.

But in a statement on Wednesday, Mandaric said: "Gary left me no choice when he informed me he wanted to leave Leicester and talk to Bolton."

He added: "The search for a new manager begins in earnest."

Megson is expected to take charge of Bolton in time for Sunday's Premier League match against Aston Villa.

Assistant boss Frank Burrows and Gerry Taggart have been put in temporary control at Leicester.

In an emotional statement, Mandaric continued: "I made it abundantly clear that Bolton's interest was neither welcome or invited but it was evident to me following a meeting requested by Gary that his loyalties and heart lay elsewhere.

"Naturally I am very disappointed.

"My objectives were to stand firm in the face of mounting interest from Bolton and intense media speculation over Gary's future, but in the end these completely undermined my firm determination to retain his services.

"In point of fact it was abundantly clear to me that if I stood in Gary's way it would have a detrimental effect on the club and I was not prepared to allow that to happen."

Mandaric added that he had agreed a compensation package with Bolton.

What the bloody hell are you on? Megson is not fit to manage Anelka Diouf et al. His lower league dismal record speaks for itself. Things are so bad that even Nottingham Forest fans are offering sympathy.

'I have been a Forest fan throughout the depths of our despair, seen the lowest of the lows and very few highs. Yet I can say, with complete confidence, that 5 of the worst performances I have ever had the misfortune to witness with Forest, were under Megson......In spite of what he may say or claim, Megson will not change his tactics. He will play players out of position and drop his best players. If you string two passes together as a team, it's a miracle from God feeling sorry for you.`

Back in Bolton, a petition has been handed in to the Reebok Stadium demanding that chairman Phil Gartside be sectioned under the Mental Health Act and local hardware stores are reporting a run on the sale of pitchforks. Cut n paste from some site or other but sums up what I want to say.

We need to get Gartside sectioned under the mental health act. I actually think we may have good grounds.

plenty of fans didn't think Sammy Lee was the man for the job, me included, but were willing to give him a chance...9 games - 5pts say it all.

Most fans on here don't think Megson is the right man for the job....do we give him 9 games to possibly get us another 5 pts then sack him too, and be back to square one again.

He has done nothing, alienated almost everbody at every club he has been at, and if you ask me it was like manna from heaven for Mandaric when we came calling. Compensation for a manager who hadn't signed his contract and who, judging by Leicester's position in the Championship, would probably have been sacked shortly anyway.

What exactly is Gartside's rush for....yes we need a new manager...but take time to interview as many as possible to make sure we get the right one. And what exactly is Gary Megson's agent doing on the interview panel. If you have to use an agent fine, just not one with a vested interest and a bit of a murky past at that.

If Megson is what it takes to make the doubting Thomas's who blamed St Samuel of Burnden (aka BSA) for his departing rather than that Judas Ghil Fartside, thereby ending the glory years, then that's no bad thing, I say. A fair number of posters on here slagged BSA early season, but have since withered away (or changed their monicas to avoid embarassment). The Club's fate was sealed when BSA could take it no longer & told PG where to stick his Excel spreadsheets. The morons who have since suggested he was disloyal (after a great playing career with the club followed by 8 years of virtually performing miracles on a shoestring ) can perhaps now see the root cause of the disease at BWFC. A nasty little disease it is too. Smallbrainpox. The only cure will be Eddie Davies doing the honourable thing & selling out. An unfashionable club to invest in? Do me a favour. With the Sky money to be made, any Premiership team is a potential cash cow run properly. Not so sure about a bottom half Championship team, however.

If we continue to have bad results that can be put down to the Management I suggest we nominate a home game on this site for us all to avoid - vote with our feet.

I never thought that I would EVER feel this way

I actually have a lot of sympathy with you guys on this one, and thats a first for me as far as BWFC goes.
After all the great work Allardyce did, Gartside is managing to unravel it all in a matter of months and the appointment of Megson should finish the job completely.
You guys should all be up at the stadium en masse voicing your disapproval, because if Megson gets it, wave byebye to the Premier.

If you string two passes together as a team, it's a miracle from God feeling sorry for you.` Back in Bolton, a petition has been handed in to the Reebok Stadium demanding that chairman Phil Gartside be sectioned under the Mental Health Act and local hardware stores are reporting a run on the sale of pitchforks.

Just what I was going to say in response.

I did last year like many others warn the managment at Bolton that to let Big Sam go would be a disaster. Look at Newcastle. they must all be delighted. and here we all are at the bottom. Still in Europe put there by big Sam. What a mess? so we win or loose so what???
we Bolton are at the bottom of the pile?
I can not judge that the new manager elect is good or bad. But he must be a hero if he can solve our problems? give the new man a chance
we are at rock bottom. the only way now is up,
or into the lower divisions we will go.
I have been supporting Bolton for over 65 years
My family think I am nuts.I was at Burnden on disaster day. and at Wembley when we beat
Manchester U. 2.0. in 58. I hope that is right , I am getting on a bit. Don`t kick the new manager? give him a chance whoever he may be. Bolton have never been in the lime light like the big boys, money now runs our wonderfull game. so sad? but keep looking on the bright side of life, UP THE TROTTERS

As its likely Megson is just about to be appointed its about time we organised ourselves instead of just moaning on here. We need to be organised and heard. Do something about it. Personally I think its important to TARGET GARTSIDE. Its not Megson's fault we are in this mess (though it will be soon). The options are:
Chant: GARTSIDE OUT at the coming games. Long and sustained and make sure everyone hears it.
Alternatively go to a local club for the game on Sunday as a protest.
Gartside is at the root of our disastrous fall from grace and we should aim our protests at him as well as the board in general.

Organise yourselves and make something positive out of it! Any positive suggestions on protest are welcome. Agree on a route and do something about it.

Dear Mr Gartside,
I am writing in disbelief at the apperently imminent appointment of Gary Megson as Bolton Wanderers manager. We are rapidly becoming the laughing stock of the Premiership and this will further fuel that mirth as well as leaving the BWFC support preparing for Championship football next season. The appointment of a man who has failed and been sacked as Manager of clubs of a much lesser stature than ours shows incredible short sightedness, lack of ambition and complete disregard for your paying customers (visit the Bolton News website and view the web topics to see what your paying customers think).
As well as a staggering record of failure in terms of results, relegation etc. he can also demonstrate a record of failure in terms of alienating players and losing the dressing room. I am dreading the news that the appointment has been made because it undoes everything that has been achieved at this football club and condemns us to the dark days again. I'm sure that yourself and the owner will be fine from the proceeds of the January departure of Anelka and Diouf and the drop in Gates will not be an issue as we must still have millions left from the massively inflated TV revenue from our performance last season of which less than £5 million went on players.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not appoint this man.He will take the club back to where we fought so hard to escape from.
The statement that "if Sam Allardyce was applying for the job now he wouldn't get it" would be enough in most businesses to warrent a vote of no confidence in a chairman in light of his subsequent failures and general apathy towards the lifeblood of the business, but of course this is not most businesses.
The club is heading towards an abyss and you appear to be putting your foot on the gas to get us there quicker, please sit down with the owner discuss it rationally, and if it means Archie Knox staying at the healm till a more suitable candidate appears so be it, better that than a knee jerk mistake.
Hoping some sanity prevails

This has left the humorous stage and become serious.

All these posts are making the basic mistake that they think Gartslime wants to keep the club in the premiership. He does'nt! Shifty tosser WANTS them to be relegated. He will sell the best players in January and then clear off with his pockets bulging. And guess what? The club will still owe a fortune despite all the income over the years. Its called asset stripping and it happens all the time in business. I have still not worked out how he 'legally' ambushed all the small shareholders years ago to steal the club with his mate Davies. Problem is all the anger in these posts will disappear with the odd win here and there and the 'lets get behind the team' mentality. Just what the two bandits want. I'm fully behind you guys but I think its important to protest at the next two home games where the media will be present and will report on it. Boycotting games I think should be done further down the line e.g Boro when its clear why fans are doing it rather than people thinking its just a poor attendance. The team still needs our backing! The board also needs our backing - to have them all removed immediately! I don't think abusing Megson is the answer. Our anger should be directed at Gartside and the board, simple.
Be way to late then i think we're due an announcement tommorow. We need to stop this appointment and let it be known we expect more and will bloody well ram out point home. Not sit and whinge to the bolton news about it.
Don't get me wrong blue - I'm fully behind you mate but I think by the sound of the reports it may already be too late. In any case regardless of who we appoint I think GARTSIDE MUST GO.

Megson Leaves Leicester To Talk To Bolton

Gary Megson has left Leicester City and will speak to Bolton Wanderers about their managerial vacancy.

zoom - galleria After only six weeks at the Walkers Stadium, Gary Megson has quit as manager of Leicester City and will now have talks with Bolton about taking over at the Reebok in succession to Sammy Lee.

Leicester's chairman, Milan Mandaric, rejected two approaches from Bolton for 48-year-old Megson, whom he appointed so recently.

However, in a statement just issued, Mandaric said: "Gary left me no choice when he informed me he wanted to leave Leicester and talk to Bolton."

He added: "The search for a new manager begins in earnest."

Megson is now expected to take charge of Bolton in time for Sunday's Premier League match against Aston Villa.

Leicester's assistant manager Frank Burrows and Gerry Taggart have been put in temporary control of the Foxes, who are now looking to appoint their sixth manager in 18 months.

Mandaric's statement continued: "I made it abundantly clear that Bolton's interest was neither welcome or invited but it was evident to me following a meeting requested by Gary that his loyalties and heart lay elsewhere.

Today's departure means that Megson's last match in charge of Leciester was Tuesday's 1-0 defeat by Sheffield United.

During that match he was the target of some fans' anger - not just because of the defeat, but also because they perceived that Megson was not committed to the Foxes, with the Bolton job being bandied about.

"The crowd's reaction to me towards the end wasn't particularly palatable from my point of view," Megson said after the game.

Mandaric revealed that it was after the game that Megson requested a meeting him.

Megson's playing career spanned 18 years and nine clubs, with one of which - Sheffield Wednesday - he had two spells. H was a journeyman midfielder whose career began at Plymouth Argyle and continued at Everton, Sheffield Wednesday, Nottingham Forest, Newcastle, Wednesday again, Manchester City, Norwich, Lincoln and Shrewsbury.

His managerial career has taken in spells at Norwich, Blackpool, Stockport County, Stoke City, West Bromwich Albion, Nottingham Forest and Leicester. His best win percentage was achieved at West Bron (42.53%), whom he twice steered to promotion to the Premier League.

I just cant understand the thought process behind it. I thought the idea was to bring in someone with more experience, but surely we should be considering Megsons track record?? He's only been there 6 weeks what kind of loyalty does that show? The first sniff of a premiership side and he's off before he has even settled in. Its a bad decision. We need unity in order to ger results and with this much unrest amongst the fans its not gonna do the players any good. I wish i was a fly on the Wall in Gartsides office. I'm off to read the leicester forum - reckon they must be celebrating by now.

chipbutty, bolton says...
7:58pm Wed 24 Oct 07

Right lets get this into perspective ! there can be no bigger job in football than to manage a premiership side,so how can we pick the right man for the job in just a few days, you would not expect any company to make a choice in such a short space of time,we call Man City for having hundreds of managers that didnt fit the bill,we are heading the same way if we make a quick appointment.
We all know from watching other clubs you get a good manager who has an excelent record who you know will attract players whom he has worked with before, because we know that in the position we are in at the moment who would want to come here to play for us now.
After all who pays the wages at the club WE DO !!! and remember the day when we all came together to get rid of the muppet dueo of managers we had,it shows that we the fans can have a say if we stand together, get up there to the reebok and protest, otherwise we will all be on here again tomorrow complaining over the appointment of Mr Megson.
Come on have some backbone do we really think after all this club has achieved we deserve a manager who at best can only just dress himself.

I actually didn't want him to go when the rumours started last week, but after last night, he had to go. I couldn't put up with anymore of that rubbish that was served up. I am not sad at this, and its not Mandaric's fault. I would go for Simon Grayson, but lets give Gerry and Frank a chance.

Well that fact that Leicster City fans are really happy that Megson has gone only 6 weeks into his reign speaks volumes. Bolton might aswell have kept Sammy Lee as Megson is no better. It will only get worse come January when the likes of Anelka & Diouf leave to clubs that will be in comfortable positions in their respective leagues.

Honestly im gutted for Bolton, i always liked how they stuck it to the big boys (particularlly Arsenal) and were good under Big Sam, but when Sammy Lee too over it all feel apart.

This just shows how little ambition Bolton actually have.
What is Megson's track record, what has he actually achieved?
Well, that's 2 of the relegation spots sorted out already, Derby and Bolton.

As an Everton fan, I've always had a soft spot for Bolton. What a joke! Can't believe they want Megson...what is going through Gartsides mind???

Well Leicester fans - consider yourself very lucky to have got rid of this numpty before he did any real damage to your club.

And what the Bolton board are thinking of by taking Megson on I don't know. He was a disaster at Forest though the West Brom liked him.

And the next manager of LCFC? Simon Grayson? You'd be better off with Larry Grayson

Simon grayson has not put a foot wrong in management. He would be consierdably better than larry grayson because he is not dead.

Leicester are lucky. Thankfully we played them when they were managed by Megson! Doesn't look good for Bolton though

I couldn't put up with anymore of that rubbish that was served up. I am not sad at this, and its not Mandaric's fault. I would go for Simon Grayson, but lets give Gerry and Frank a chance. add comment | complain about this comment comment by villa4life89 posted 1 Hour Ago Well that fact that Leicster City fans are really happy that Megson has gone only 6 weeks into his reign speaks volumes. Bolton might aswell have kept Sammy Lee as Megson is no better. It will only get worse come January when the likes of Anelka & Diouf leave to clubs that will be in comfortable positions in their respective leagues. Honestly im gutted for Bolton, i always liked how they stuck it to the big boys (particularlly Arsenal) and were good under Big Sam, but when Sammy Lee too over it all feel apart. add comment | complain about this comment comment by 4thecaptain posted 1 Hour Ago I don't believe it. Make your feelings known that this is unacceptable.

Even if it is a done deal, you still can't take this lying.

This is the FANS club and it's your duty to save it.

Protest tonight, tomorrow, Sunday whenever, just as long as we get rid of Gartside and Megson.

Today is a sad day for Bolton, BWFC fans and English football.

We have dined with pride in the finest company over the last few years and have gained respect from such names as Ferguson, Wenger, Mourinho and Benitez, all world class managers who came to The Reebok Stadium and fielded their top stars. You never saw a string of reserves in any visiting line up under Big Sam.
In six months we have gone to nothing. We are the whipping boys, we are the laughing stock.
Ok, Little Sam failed, bad start to the season, still not over and a lot to play for. The obvious response for me and every other fan would be to pay the ectra dollar, get a top manager to salvage what he can from the season and bring back the winning ways to our beloved team.
What is Gartsides response?
Get a manager who has FAILED AT EVERY CLUB HE HAS BEEN TO, HAS NO CREDENTIALS, COULD NOT RUN A BATH AND HAS GINGER HAIR!

This is a sad day.

Attendances will fall further, I gave up my season ticket, I will never watch again under Gartside, I do not work hard to fund his and Eddies cushy lifestyles.

How is Megson going to manage Anelka, Diouf, Jussi, Campo and the guys.

It is like putting Arkwright as General Manager of Selfridges.

Wasn't in Nostradamus that predicted "In the year of the 2000 and number of sins the anti Christ will deliver unto the football Club of Wanderings in the village of Bolton a fiery headed demon who shalt secure of their demise to the land of the dead known as the championship and behold the people will be ransacked of their money to witness the terrible destruction wrought upon the place"? Or was I just dreaming?

haha this is the funniest story ever... Megson as Bolton manager. I am a season ticket holder, and have been to all the games so far this season. If he gets the job, like many others, i will not be happy. Someone please help us before our club dies!

The players should refuse to work with egson - refuse to work with Gartside and refuse to train and even refuse to turn up - Anelka, Campo et al ahve been badly let down by the board - just like the hard paying fans.

Real bad day for the club.

Bolton Wanderers RIP
God save the good fans and staff and may Gartside,Board and egson burn in hell!
