Cheque boosts skin help group

BOLTON Rounders' Association has raised more than £4,000 for Debra, a charity which works for people with a genetic skin-blistering condition.

Members of the association handed over the cheque to Tony Eckersall, the charity's regional fundraising manager for the North-west, on Tuesday evening at its AGM.

The association chose the charity last November because Tanya Moores, who plays for Freedom Ladies, has a two-year-old son, Rhys, who suffers from the skin condition Epidermolysis Bullosa.

They raised £4,459 by holding charity events, including sponsored walks and darts matches.

Miss Moores, aged 24, of Johnson Fold, said she was delighted at the amount raised.

"I would like to thank everyone at the rounders' association.

"Not only will it help Rhys, it will also help others with the disease," she said.

"I hope more people will recognise the charity now."
