BROMLEY Cross has been named one of the best places to raise a family in the North West.

New analysis from Property Detective has put the BL7 postcode for Bromley Cross, Edgworth, and Chapeltown, third on the list.

The decision was based on the quality, location, and number of local amenities, such as schools, parks and playgrounds, and shops.

Cllr David Greenhalgh, who represents the ward, said: “It’s great to see that we’re still scoring highly in this area – this is a regional chart but to be at number three is fantastic.

“To see the places that we’re alongside and above is amazing, it’s great for the area.

“We know it’s a criteria that judges things for children such as school provisions but it also looks at facilities and community spirit and I think that’s something that we are really really proud of in our area.

“We do a lot together as a community, and the response we get when it’s time to celebrate and commemorate, the way we pull together and support each other, the way we work hard and play hard across all generations, it’s just amazing.

“It’s far from perfect, we’ll always strive to make it better, but there’s so much that makes us proud to live here.”

Seven primary schools in the area were rated Outstanding by Ofsted, with 12 more receiving a Good report from the body.

Secondary schools in driving distance of the area are also well rated, with five considered Outstanding, and ten Good in their most recent inspections.

Andrew Cardwell, from Cardwells Estate Agents, said: “The BL7 postcode area is consistently one of the most popular areas that clients advise us that they are seeking to move to, so these results do not surprise me at all.

“There is a high standard of Primary Schools whilst Turton High School on Chapeltown Road has an excellent reputation locally.

“The area enjoys superb travel links, and there is some of the most stunning countryside in the region with the Wayoh, Entwistle, and Jumbles Reservoirs all local beauty spots worthy of particular mention.

“This is a wonderful area to live and raise a family.”
