Lancs look to the future

LANCASHIRE'S members last night voted on two issues surrounding the future governance of the Old Trafford club at a special general meeting.
The major change will be that three "suitably qualified" candidates will be appointed rather than elected to the business committee.
"We are dealing with big money here, and we have to have the people with suitable expertise to help move the club forward," explained vice chairman Keith Hayhurst.
"But they have also ideally got to be enthusiastic Lancashire supporters who know their cricket."
A resolution was also passed ensuring the chairman of the club, currently Jack Simmons, could be an appointed, and not an elected, member of the committee as is the case now.
Red Rose members were assured there were no current plans to do this - and it would only happen in "exceptional circumstances" such as an outstanding candidate coming forward.
Lancashire's new captain, Stuart Law, meanwhile, helped Chennai Superstars win the innaugural Indian Cricket League with a 12-run victory against the Chandigar Lions at the weekend.
