Doorman faces tall order at the wheel

WHEN Mbala Biokele contacted a driving instructor to ask about lessons, there was nothing to indicate they would be anything out of the ordinary.

But when the 6ft 6in doorman arrived for his first lesson, instructor Zubair Ahmed realised he faced a tall order - would Mr Biokele would fit into his Mini?

Mr Ahmed, aged 34, of Daubhill, said: "I was a little concerned about his height and whether he would fit into the car and be able to use the controls."

But Mr Biokele, aged 42, managed to convince the instructor to give him a go - and he passed his test first time.

Mr Biokele, of Great Lever, said: "I really wanted him to teach me. I wasn't too concerned about the car.

"After I passed my test, I even asked if I could buy it from him.

"But now I am looking for a 4x4 type vehicle.

"Zubair is a very good instructor and I am so pleased I passed first time."
