Youngsters set for tough clash

8:12pm Tuesday 15th January 2008

BOLTON U14s football team failed to get in some much needed match practice following the Christmas break when their challenge game against Wakefield was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Team manager Ivor Altdorf had been hoping to keep his team in match trim ahead of this Saturday's North-west Woodward Cup preliminary round encounter against Knowsley at Sharples School (10.30am).

But recent wet weather put paid to Altdorf's plans and his side, who are unbeaten in their last three matches, must now hope they can extend that run to four against a strong Knowsley team.

A quarter-final clash at Stockport, who beat Manchester 6-2 in their preliminary round match, awaits the winners.

Claypool were the winners of the Year 4 Co-operative Cup Futsal competition held at Withins School.

Claypool beat Walmsley 1-0 after beating Bickershaw by the same scoreline in the semi-final. The other semi-finalists were St Brendan's B'.
