The ban on smoking in public places has hit trade at the UK's biggest dry cleaner, the company revealed .

Johnson Service Group, parent of Johnson Cleaners, said the fresher atmosphere in pubs and bars had led to a fall in the number of people getting their garments dry cleaned.

The group, which also runs the Jeeves of Belgravia chain, said a decline in consumer spending on the high street was also having an effect on dry cleaning volumes.

But the company said that overall it was trading "satisfactorily against a backdrop of market uncertainty".

Johnson chairman Simon Sherrard conceded 2007 had been "very difficult for the group".

Now I don't go out any more, I don't have any clothes that need dry cleaning.
Why dress up to stay at home in the warm?

Oh dear. More people are going to be made redundant, because of the ban. I don't care, I'm saving a small fortune on drink.

I thought that they were doing well. Afterall I keep hearing that many, many pubs have been sent to the dry cleaners.

See the thing is.

This government never ever think of the ongoing effects.

The tax alone from alcohol sold in the pubs is going to be down.

The tax on people who smoke is going to be down. So in the end the Non smokers end up paying for it as well.

I mean the forethought of the implementation of this law has been utterly pathetic.

Bring back choice for pub landlords.
