YOUNGSTERS were all-smiles when an all-weather sports playground was unveiled.
Children at Peel Community Sports Club, Greenheys Road, Little Hulton, tried out their new multi-use games area at its official opening this week. The community centre received funding from Safer Stronger Communities and Coalfields Regeneration to develop an old playing field on the site.
With floodlighting and security fencing, the area can be used for basketball, football, netball and a form of cricket.
It is free to use for children who go to the centre, or can be hired by adults.
Administrator Stacey Pennington said: "The new facility offers a range of benefits to those who use it.
"It allows children to play in a safe environment, they can also have regular access to a sports facility which wasn't there before and can learn new skills."
Mayor of Salford Valerie May Burgoyne opened the pitch.
Opening times during school term are 4pm to 7pm, and school holidays 11am to 1pm and 2pm to 4pm.
