Horwich RMI Harriers

TWO Horwich RMI Harrier juniors recorded personal bests in the recent National Indoor Championships at Birmingham.

In the under-20 men's category, Jack Thomas produced a personal best and new club record over 60 metres in 7.34 seconds. Under- 17 Matthew Storey finished just outside his best time over 60m, finishing in 7.32 seconds, but ran a new personal best over 200m, equalling the club record of 23.17 seconds.

Darren Kay was back to his winning ways, taking top spot in the five-mile, 1250ft Bleasdale Circle Fell Race. Kay was chased home in second place by in-form James Kevan.

The club's third counter was Dave Massey who finished seventh.

Graham Schofield showed a fine turn of speed as he raced past team-mate Alastair Murray near the end to finish first over-50.

The annual Rivington Pike Fell Race takes place on Easter Saturday, March 22. It starts at 3pm on Lever Park Avenue, Horwich with registration and entries starting at 12.30pm at the Crown Hotel.

The 3.25 mile race is suitable for all levels of ability and is a very manageable fell race for the novice.
