IN their first year in the under-15 age group, Bromley AC girls team ran exceptionally well to finish second at the Kent County Cross-country Championships at Sevenoaks, missing first place by only two points, writes Roger Wright.
Lizzie Kenny led the team home in fifth place, with great support from Ella Fisher (seventh), Holly Mumford (8th), Susan Jackson (15th) and
Nicola Moran in 30th.
Paul Simmons ran brilliantly in the under-13 boys race when finishing seventh from 72 runners, closely followed by Carl Hewson in 20th.
Another magnificent under-13 performance was by Lauren Underwood, who finished eighth in the girls race, supported by Elizabeth Fox (23rd), Laura Jearum (26th), Holly Underwood (31st) and Ruth Simmons (33rd). Their efforts enabled the team to take sixth place overall.
Nikki Baker confirmed her position as one of the leading under-20 runners in the county by taking the third-place medal, while Robert Bain was 27th in the under-15 boys race and Philip Richards came 30th in the under-17 mens event.
