PEOPLE with a few hours to spare are being encouraged to sign up to a new mental health scheme.
My Independent Life, part of The Bolton Adult Placement Scheme, is calling on people across the borough to support the elderly, adults with disabilities or those with mental health problems.
People willing to offer a helping hand are being asked to spend a few hours a week providing home-help, day-time support or something more permanent, like providing a home for someone.
Bolton Council's executive member for Adult and Social Care and Health, Cllr Rosa Kay, said: "Our carers provide an excellent service to adults with disabilities and caring can be an extremely worthwhile profession for the right person."
Volunteers will be given full training and financial support.
Cllr Kay said: "I would advise anyone who might have an interest in becoming a carer to get in touch. Just one phone call could be the start of a rewarding career and a whole new friendship."
