Funeral of popular Horwich primary school head

THE funeral of a popular headteacher who died suddenly will take place next Monday.

Glenys Evans, aged 57, died in hospital on April 1 while undergoing a routine endoscopy as an outpatient.

The cause of her death has not yet been established.

Mrs Evans had worked at Claypool School in Horwich since 1989, but had been a teacher in the borough since 1974, previously working at St Matthew's CE Primary, Little Lever, and Cherry Tree Primary, Farnworth.

A service will take place at Horwich Parish Church on Monday at noon, before committal at Overdale West Chapel at 1.30pm.

Mrs Evans, of Nevy Fold Avenue, Horwich, leaves a husband, Kerry, and sons Marcus, aged 25, and Morgan, aged 23.

Mourners are being asked to make donations, in lieu of flowers, to the National Osteoporosis Society or The Bolton Lads and Girls Club.
