Grant is back in top gear

NIGEL Grant is aiming to continue his stunning return to motor racing in the Historic Formula Ford 2000 Championship this year.
The 46-year-old was crowned 2006 champion and although he could not repeat his success in 2007, he still won several races in the same car.
Edgworth-based Grant re-entered the fray in 2003 after quitting racing in 1991 to start a family.
His career started in 1985, following in his father Robert's footsteps competing in hillclimbing, sprints and rallies, culminating in a drive in a Triumph TR 3A in the legendary Leige-Rome-Leige rally.
He was offered a drive in a friend's racing car in 2003 and that fired his enthusiasm for racing again and the following year he bought his current single-seater Formula Ford 2000.
His 12-year-old son Callum is carrying on the family tradition. He started racing in motorcross at the age of six and raced successfully until he was 11, finishing second in the Vale Motorcross Club Championship despite breaking an arm in an accident.
After switching to karts in 2006 he is hoping for a successful season.
