Farnworth teacher faces probe after complaints

8:23am Friday 11th April 2008

A FORMER teacher at a Bolton special school is facing a General Teaching Council inquiry into complaints about her conduct.

Susan Hobson, who was a teacher at Green Fold Special School in Farnworth, is facing four allegations following incidents between January and March, 2006.

She is accused of throwing CDs across a classroom, narrowly missing colleagues and pupils, on January 17.

On January 30, she is alleged to have shouted at a pupil and then used disproportionate force to lift the child who had fallen to the floor.

Mrs Hobson is also accused of unreasonably restraining a pupil by the wrist when escorting him to a classroom on March 20.

On the same day, she is alleged to have threatened a pupil by telling him he would sit next to another child who intimidated him.

The case, which is being heard in Birmingham by the General Teaching Council's Professional Conduct Committee, was adjourned until June 24.
