Celebrating another smart Bolton idea

THE first of three events to celebrate Bolton's Smart cards took place in Bolton town centre.

Young people from the Casey Lee Jolleys Academy of Dance and Drama and The Youth Harmony Project performed in Victoria Square.

More than 28,000 of the free cards have been issued by Bolton Council, which is one of the first in the country to introduce them.

They give everyone the opportunity to enjoy libraries, leisure activities and discounts.

They can also be used for payment as they have sQuid technology. The cards allow free swimming for 16s and under and free leisure use to the over 65s.

Eleven to 16-year-olds can have the new BSmart card, which gives them access to a range of activities, as well as libraries and concessionary travel.

There will be two more events this month and they are all aimed at promoting the features and advantages of the cards.
