Tram operator Stagecoach has stopped services in Manchester after throngs of football fans in the city centre blocked the lines.
They stopped operating at 2pm after it became increasingly difficult for Metrolink staff to ease the trams through Piccadilly Gardens.
Around 100,000 Rangers fans have packed the city and many have congregated in the Gardens area.
Trams are running between Bury and Victoria and from Altrincham and Eccles to G-Mex.
Stagecoach Metrolink duty manager Mike Thompson said: "It is just too dangerous and we have had to take the decision to cease services."
