PETER Kay's new TV comedy is a spoof of reality TV talent shows like The X Factor, Britain's Got Talent and I'll Do Anything.
On Friday, cast and crew of the as yet untitled feature-length programme filmed a scene in a caravan park near Warrington and Peter spoke exclusively to The Bolton News.
It is the first TV project he has written, directed and acted in since the Phoenix Nights spin-off Max And Paddy's Road To Nowhere, almost four years ago.
He will play Geraldine, a dinner lady from Ireland who is a wannabe singing star.
Peter, aged 35, said: "It's lovely to be filming again and with the first new character for about 10 years.
"Phoenix Nights and Max And Paddy were with characters who had been developed from That Peter Kay Thing.
"Geraldine is a new character and I am really enjoying playing her - apart from the fact that I had to have my legs and chest waxed, which was absolute agony!"
Although the storyline is being kept a closely guarded secret for the moment, Peter did say the programme would feature a host of hilarious auditions.
He said: "It has actually ended up being a much bigger undertaking than I expected because we have a lot of costumes, lots of actors and it's important that it has the exact feel of the TV talent shows that are popular at the moment."
Peter's new programme is expected to air on Channel 4 in the autumn and filming is almost complete.
