NHS plans dentist for town

8:42pm Monday 14th July 2008

A TOWN is to get an NHS dentist, thanks to a £400,000 investment.

Horwich currently has no NHS dental practice to providing services for adults.

However, Bolton NHS Primary Care Trust has been given an extra £852,000 by the North West Strategic Health Authority for dental services in the area and Horwich's funding will come from that.

The shortlisting, interviewing and selecting of bidders for the new Horwich dental practice will take place over the next few weeks.

The Primary Care Trust expects the new dental surgery to be open in the new year.

The Horwich Smile Centre has already put in a planning application to convert a shop unit at 15-17 Winter Hey Lane into a dental surgery. It has submitted a blueprint to Bolton Council.
