While not able to comment on bus routes, the Docklands Light Railway's Lewisham link opened on November 22 last year.
Its terminus station at Lewisham connects directly with Connex and many bus routes and Greenwich station also connects directly with Connex.
The route includes a station at Cutty Sark and whisks passengers under the Thames to Island Gardens and onwards to Stratford, Bank, Canary Wharf, Tower Gateway and Beckton.
The journey time from Lewisham to Canary Wharf is just 15 minutes and the link interchanges with the Jubilee line at Stratford, Canary Wharf and Canning Town.
There are dedicated buses from Canary Wharf and Canning Town for City airport.
From Charlton it takes only 19 minutes to Canary Wharf via DLR from Greenwich.
Your readers may also like to know that a new DLR extension from Canning Town to London City airport is due to start construction next year and be in service by 2004.
It is hoped this extension will continue to north Woolwich where it will connect with ferry services and the foot tunnel.
