Dental surgery plan sparks traffic fears

9:00am Saturday 20th September 2008

OBJECTIONS have been lodged against plans to open an NHS dental surgery in Horwich because of potential traffic and parking problems.

The Smile Clinic, which has a surgery in Marsden Road, Bolton, and one in Preston, submitted plans to convert a bungalow in Victoria Street, Horwich, into a practice with two dentists to cater for 10,000 patients.

The town currently has no NHS dental practice providing services for adults.

But Horwich Town Council objected to the proposals.

A decision will be made by Bolton Council’s planning and highways committee on Thursday, October 2.

Planning officers have recommended the proposals should be approved.
