Bolton hit-run death crash driver pleads guilty

A hit and run driver has admitted killing a mother of two as she walked home from a night out in Bolton with her friends.

Daniel Taylor, aged 23, killed Laura Entwistle as she crossed Wigan Road, Deane, following a party at the Rumworth Arms public house, at about 2.50am, on January 21, 2006.

Taylor, on trial at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court, initially denied causing death by dangerous driving and perverting the course of justice.

But in a surprise twist, Taylor changed his plea to guilty, and also pleaded guilty to failing to stop after an accident and failing to report an accident.

Mrs Entwistle, separated from her husband Bob, left two sons - Robert, aged 21, and 17-year-old Aaron.

Following her death, speed cameras were installed on the stretch of Wigan Road where she was knocked over, which now has a 30mph speed limit. Taylor will now return to the court to be sentenced on October 29.
