BOLTON boxing hero Amir Khan has taken on an art challenge in aid of Children in Need.

Amir and comedian Dave Spikey were among a number of celebrities invited by hook and loop fastener makers Velcro to create a work of art featuring their product.

And organisers were knocked out when they saw Amir’s contribution — a boxing glove customised with velcro.

Amir said: “I’m a big supporter of Children in Need. It is a fantastic cause and that is why I got involved. Hopefully, the glove will raise a lot of money for charity.”

Dave Spikey created a seaside scene with a setting sun.

Other celebrities taking part include the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, Joanna Lumley, Floella Benjamin and actors from Coronation Street, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks as well as designers Linda Barker and Wayne Hemingway and Celebrity Masterchef winner Liz McClarnon.

Fans can see the creations at the Manchester Triangle shopping centre from tomorrow until next Friday.

And anyone wanting to own one of the masterpieces can place a bid on eBay from today until November 16, with all the proceeds going to Children In Need.

For more information on the artwork and the auction visit www.the velcrochallenge.co.uk Children in Need is on Friday, November 14.
