A SENIOR detective has gone online in a bid to find the murderer of a convicted rapist whose body may be buried on the moors above Bolton.
Detective Superintendent Neil Hunter has posted a video on the Lancashire Constabulary website appealing for people to come forward with information.
Police believe the body of Alan Lee Street, a registered sex offender, could be buried in remote moorland in the Rivington Pike and Winter Hill areas.
It is thought Mr Street, aged 26, of Oswaldtwistle, was killed at a house in Padiham, near Burnley, on December 20 in a “frenzied attack” before his body was taken in a blue Mitsubishi Colt belonging to a man they want to question. His body has never been found.
This weekend police quizzed walkers at the Bolton beauty spot to try and shed light on the inquiry.
Now Det Supt Hunter is using the internet in the hope that someone with new information will come forward.
