GREAT Britain Rugby League captain Jamie Peacock went back to school to inspire young people to be the best they can.
Turton School, in Bromley Cross, organised its first Raising Achievement Day to develop pupils’ confidence and determination to achieve their ambitions.
The Leeds Rhinos star addressed the Year 10 students together with Damian Hughes, a motivational speaker in business and sport. The day was organised by head of upper school Paul Trainor.
He said: “We aimed the day at Year 10 students because they are nearing the end of their school life and we wanted to encourage them to be successful, ambitious and work hard to achieve what they want to do.”
Pupil Conor Close, aged 15, said: ”I took a lot of things from the day. It was a pleasure to meet Jamie Peacock, he was an inspiration”
Emma Kay, aged 15, said: “It was really interesting. Damian’s presentation helped me to understand what I can do to get the best out of my abilities.”
Hannah McFarlane, aged 15, added: “Jamie showed us how, with dedication and hard work, anything is achievable.”
