Electrified fence plan at Egerton reservior

SECURITY fencing and CCTV could be installed near a reservoir.
United Utilities has applied for a certificate of lawfulness for an electrified fence at a reservoir in Egerton.
The fence would be positioned on land adjacent to New Butterworth’s Farm off Cox Green Road.
In the information supplied to Bolton Council, United Utilities said it is a government requirement to protect public health and to prevent interference with the water supply.
The perimeter fencing would be three metres high and made from dark green weld mesh. There would be a four-metre interior electrified fence mounted inside.
A decision on whether it is a lawful development will be made by Bolton Council.
