PUPILS at a Breightmet primary school are jumping for joy — and running, counting and hopping — for their new playground game.
And teachers at the school are also thrilled with what they say has transformed part of the playground into an outdoor classroom.
Blackshaw Primary School now has a huge 100-square numbered grid for the playground, thanks to a grant of nearly £900 from the Britannia Building Society.
Susan Smith, the office manager at the school, said: “The donation from Britannia will help develop a creative and enjoyable learning space for our children.
“The playground is a fun area to teach the basics and our new number grid will allow the school to develop pupils’ numeracy skills outside.”
Jo Beddeson, manager of Britannia’s Radcliffe branch, added: “The Britannia Community Fund is one way which the society gives something back to local communities.
“We are delighted that the outdoor play area will help children develop numeracy, physical and social skills in a fun and enjoyable way for many years to come.”
