A SECOND street shooting in Bolton is being investigated by specialist police officers.

Detectives from from Greater Manchester Police’s Xcalibre task force gun crime unit believe a shotgun was fired in a back alley in Daubhill.

The incident was reported the day after a gunman got out of a car and opened fire on a takeaway late at night.

This week police released dramatic CCTV footage of that incident.

It shows a gunman running up to the Al-Noor Keema Naan in Derby Street, Daubhill, and opening fire at the shop shutters with a shotgun.

The front of the shop was damaged and ammunition compatible with a shotgun was found shortly after the attack at around 11.30pm on Wednesday, May 20.

The second incident happened the day after.

A police spokesman said: “A shotgun was discharged in a back alley between Noble Street and Emblem Street, Bolton, at around 9pm on May 21. No-one was injured and no damage was caused.”

Officers found evidence at the scene and the noise was reported by residents. Police think that the two incidents may be linked.

No offenders were seen in either incident, though one witness noticed a silver car driving away shortly after the noise of the first shooting in Derby Street.

Det Sgt Nick Haigh, from the Major Incident Team, said he hoped footage from the first incident would jog people's memories.

The pictures show there was a bus driving by shortly before the shots were fired and Det Sgt Haigh appealed to the passengers on the bus to come forward if they saw two men on the other side of the road acting suspiciously.

He added: "We can see that this was a deliberate, planned attempt to cause fear, and whether anyone was nearby or not, lives were in danger.

"There is no place for guns on the streets of Greater Manchester, and we will work hard to ensure that people's lives are not put at risk."
