Prize is just the ticket for school funds

AN executive ticket for four to see Manchester United take on Arsenal is up for grabs in an auction to raise money to transform the lives of some of the borough’s most vulnerable youngsters.

Westhoughton-based business Bolton Industrial Doors (BID) has handed over the ticket to support Lever Park Special School’s bid to become a leading centre for children with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.

Managing director of BID, John Thompson, said: “We have been carrying out work at the school and have seen first-hand the work it does.

“Helping young people at this age can make a difference and help them to lead independent lives in the future.”

The school needs to raise £20,000 towards its bid to gain specialist status.

If successful in its bid, the school will receive a lump sum of £100,000 to spend on enhancing the curriculum and an extra £60,000 every year, half of which would benefit the community.

In May, The Bolton News launched the Brighter Futures Campaign pledging to help publicise the school’s appeal and event held to raise cash.

The school’s project manager Carole Darbyshire said: “We are so grateful to BID for giving us these tickets which I am sure will get a lot of interest. People have already started bidding for them.”

The matchday tickets include a parking space. The game will be played at the end of August.

Bidding will close at the end of July. To make a bid call 01204 332666 or if you want to support the appeal send your cheque, made payable to Lever Park School to: Lever Park School, Stocks Park Drive, Horwich, Bolton, BL6 6DE. Call Carole Darbyshire on 01204 332666 for more information.
