ELBOW frontman Guy Garvey and Ivor Novello Award-winning musician Simon Aldred have spoken out in support of the Mines Advisory Group’s Music Beats Mines campaign.
The Mercury Music Prize-winning Garvey made a short video for the campaign in which he encourages musicians to put gigs on, whether they are in their garage or in larger venues, and also suggested that trapeze artists, jugglers and mime artists should get in on the action!
Bury-born Guy said: “Between us let’s have a load of fun and at the same time rid the world of unexploded ordnance, the bit that the war pigs don’t do.
“It’s up to us to get rid of mines and bombs so that people can enjoy the safe walking down the street kinda lifestyle that we do.
“Music Beats Mines is the answer — it’s responsible, it’s cool and it’s incredibly sexy.”
Cherry Ghost, led by Bolton-born musician Simon Aldred, also demonstrated their support for the campaign before their gig at Manchester’s Deaf Institute last month.
