A RACIST thug has been jailed for 15 months for his part in an attack on a bus driver.

Jonathan Outram, aged 21, of Chorley New Road, Bolton, pleaded guilty to racially aggravated assault causing actual bodily harm at Manchester Crown Court.

He and Kieran Jordan, aged 21, from Cotton Lane, Withington, lashed out at an Asian bus driver — and Jordan also attacked one of his colleagues — at Queens Road bus depot, Cheetham Hill, on April 3.

They were heard making racist comments before Jordan threw a punch at the 38-year-old Asian man. Jordan then brandished a wallpaper scraper.

Outram attacked the bus driver, wrestling him to the ground, causing him bruising and grazes. Another bus driver, aged 59, intervened and Jordan almost severed his left ear lobe with the scraper. The victim needed 11 stitches.

The pair then ran off but were arrested a short time later.

Jordan pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent and racially aggravated assault causing actual bodily harm.

He was jailed for six years.

Det Con Tom Howard, of Grey Mare Lane CID, said: “They admitted in interview that they attacked this man purely because of the colour of his skin.

“The level of violence used against his colleague who tried to help, was completely unnecessary and despicable.”
