Zac’s Youth Bar turns to pedal power to help children

A CHARITY boss is embarking on a fundraising cycle across Mexico.

Stuart Barnes, director of Zac’s Youth Bar, will pedal through the pain barrier to raise funds for the youth club.

The charity chief is gearing up for the gruelling 300 mile trek next month — and he even trained in a supermarket this weekend as he and other cyclists pedalled more than 200 miles without leaving the store.

Mr Barnes said: “It will be a challenge, no doubt. But I am quietly confident.

“I have been cycling around 150km a week in training. The distance should be okay but the heat could be a problem — Mexico and Bolton are quite different."

Mr Barnes will cycle through the Yucatan region of Mexico from Merida to the coastal town of Tulum.

While his route is flat, the intrepid cyclist said he faces cycling in very humid conditions through a “jungle-type landscape”.
